Helpful Tips

- This deodorant goes on white (because of the zinc). Make sure to rub it in thoroughly to reduce white transfer onto clothing.

Are you New to Natural Deodorant? If you’re switching from conventional deodorant or antiperspirant, your body may go through a short adjustment period as it adapts to aluminum-free deodorant. Many people notice no issues at all, while others may experience temporary changes in odor as their body chemistry balances out. This adjustment phase looks different for everyone and usually resolves on its own.

Note: Because this deodorant is made with natural oils and waxes, it can soften in warmer temperatures and firm up in cooler ones. This is completely normal and doesn’t affect how well it works.

FAQs

Does this work as well as the Original formula?
This formula is designed specifically for people who cannot tolerate baking soda. Because it is gentler, it is not as universally effective as our Original formula. If you need the strongest odor protection possible and are not sensitive to baking soda, our Original deodorant or Sensitive Clear deodorant are a great place to start. Our Extra Strength Sensitive deodorant, which contains 1/3 the baking soda of our Original formula, is another great option for people who can tolerate a small amount of baking soda.

Will this go on clear?
No — this deodorant goes on white because of the non-nano zinc oxide. Be sure to rub it in well to minimize transfer onto clothing.

Is it safe for sensitive skin?
Yes. This formula is designed for people who cannot use baking soda and prefer a fragrance-free option. It contains no aluminum and no added fragrance. If you're comparing different types of formulas, our guide to the best baking soda free deodorant explains what ingredients to look for.

Is it normal to smell more during the transition?
Yes. If you're switching from conventional antiperspirant, you may experience a short detox period while your body adjusts. This can include temporary odor or mild staining — completely normal and temporary.

Does unscented deodorant actually work?
Yes — when it’s formulated correctly. Learn how unscented formulas control odor and how to choose the right one for your body here.

Why do some people avoid baking soda in deodorant?
While baking soda can help control odor, some people find it irritating to their skin. A baking soda free deodorant uses other ingredients—such as zinc oxide, magnesium hydroxide, and clays—to help control odor without the irritation baking soda can cause. If you'd like to understand the science behind it, you can read more about how baking soda works in deodorant.

What’s the difference between zinc oxide and zinc ricinoleate in deodorant?
Both are zinc-based ingredients used in natural deodorants, but they work a bit differently. Zinc oxide supports odor control by creating an environment that’s less friendly to odor-causing bacteria while also helping soothe sensitive skin. Because of its natural color, it goes on white. Zinc ricinoleate focuses on odor control by binding to and trapping odor molecules rather than targeting bacteria, and it goes on clear.
